Elk Point-Jefferson School District is located in Elk Point, SD, the county seat for Union County, in the southeast corner of South Dakota. Elk Point-Jefferson is located 15 miles southeast from Vermillion, SD and the University of South Dakota and 20 miles northwest of Sioux City, IA. The communities of Elk Point and Jefferson combined school districts in the 1994 - 1995 school year. The school district is 216 square miles, where the main industry is agriculture, but also support Curry Seed, and manufacturing industries such as, Aaladin Industries, Load King, Thermo Bond and Balcon Enterprises. Elk Point-Jefferson has one building for grades JrK – 12, which is located in Elk Point, and we provide education for approximately 690 students.
Elk Point-Jefferson is accredited through the South Dakota Department of Education.
