Yesterday was one of our favorite traditions in the SLC classroom…our annual Ramen Challenge! 🍜 This activity is so much more than just making a meal! It's a hands on life skills experience from start to finish. Students practiced creating a shopping list, budgeting and making choices at the store, food preparation and kitchen safety, following and writing step-by-step directions, time management, and communication. Each student planned, cooked, and presented their own unique ramen creation, showing creativity and independence along the way. The pride they take in the final product (and the smiles while eating it!) say it all. We are so proud of the growth, effort, and collaboration we saw yesterday. These are the real-world skills that build confidence far beyond the classroom

The Structured Learning Center (SLC) has been a busy place! Each year we incubate eggs but this year we also got baby caterpillars (Painted Ladies). We've gotten to experience something truly special—baby chicks hatching and butterflies emerging! Talk about a perfect reminder of growth and new beginnings. Our students were able to see firsthand that all living things grow and change in their own time. Whether it’s a chick breaking through its shell or a butterfly emerging from its cocoon/chrysalis, both take patience, effort, and a little bit of struggle before something amazing happens. We had some great conversations about how we’re all growing too...learning new things, building skills, and becoming who we’re meant to be, even when it feels slow

Sorry for the late notice. The roads are pretty ice packed and snow covered yet in our district. For student safety there will be no school today.
